Anthony Paul Rodriguez

November 02, 2026

Anthony Paul Rodriguez, a devoted husband, loving father, cherished son, brother, uncle, and friend, went to be with his Heavenly Father on October 28, 2026.
Anthony was born on June 30, 1969, in El Paso, Texas, to Avelardo and Josefina Rodriguez. He was one of five children who, at a very young age developed lifelong relationships while attending his neighborhood schools and hanging out with the Granite Street Crew. He graduated from Riverside High School in 1987 ready to take on his next adventure of college, only certain that the soundtrack he included on his journey included hits from the heavy metal bands that he loved. Every day he carried the values of family, hard work, and compassion with him throughout his life.
Anthony attended the University of Texas at El Paso before his journey led him to Odessa, Texas, where he met the love of his life, Cathy Moran Rodriguez. After three years of dating, they joined in in marriage in Ozona, TX, on June 3, 1995, among family and friends.
While in Odessa, Anthony pursued his passion for helping others and earned an Associate of Applied Science in Respiratory Therapy from Odessa College in 1996. Odessa is also where he began his career as a respiratory therapist. Never one to stop learning, he continued his education and graduated from the University of Texas Permian Basin in 2001 with a Bachelor of Arts in Science - Computer Science.
In 2002, they moved to the Austin area. On December 12, 2003, they welcomed their greatest blessing, their son, Joshua Anthony Rodriguez. Anthony embraced fatherhood with his whole heart, taking immense pride in Joshua and cherishing the time they spent together. Being a husband and father brought him his greatest joy.
The 34 years Anthony and Cathy spent together were built on devotion, friendship, and unwavering commitment. Together, they created a life filled with love, laughter, and treasured memories. They attended the Church of Whitestone in Cedar Park, TX where they enjoyed fellowship and worshipped together.
Anthony loved being with friends and family, enjoyed music and sports, especially his beloved Texas Longhorns. Saturdays spent alongside Cathy and Josh cheering on their favorite team were among the simple joys he treasured most.
For 24 years, Anthony served as a dedicated respiratory therapist at Brackenridge Hospital, now Dell Seton Medical Center at the University of Texas. Through his compassionate care, he shared comfort and encouragement with patients and families during some of their most difficult moments. His coworkers knew and loved him for his kindness, sense of humor, generosity, and willingness to help.
That same caring spirit extended to every part of Anthony’s life. Whether supporting a friend, helping a family member, or lending a hand to a coworker, he gave freely of himself. His warm smile, gentle spirit, and genuine concern for others made people feel welcome, valued, and loved.
Anthony held a special place with his in-laws, Rudy (Popo) and Margie Moran, and was valued as a second son. He enjoyed spending time with his late brother-in-law Danny (Irma), niece Malorie (C), and great-niece Ava. He also served as a father figure to his young brother-in-law Jordan. He held a treasured and irreplaceable place in their family.
Anthony is survived by his beloved wife of 31 years, Catherine Moran Rodriguez; his treasured son, Joshua Anthony Rodriguez of Round Rock; his loving mother, Josefina Rodriguez of El Paso; his sisters, Linda (Michael) Navarro, Lorraine (Oscar) Quintela, and Melissa (Demetrius) Williams; and his brother, Edward Rodriguez. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who held a special place in his heart and brought him great joy.
He was preceded in death by his father, Avelardo Rodriguez, and his brother-in-law, Daniel Moran.
Anthony’s absence will be deeply felt, but the love he shared and the example he set will always remain with those who knew him. His memory lives on in his family, his friendships, and the many lives he touched through his care, kindness and service.
