An Aztec Indian moccasin, woven of desert plant fibers and estimated at more than a thousand years old has been added to the museum collection of the Ozona High School, the gift of Houston Smith, Ozona attorney. Mr. Smith brought the moccasin back from New Mexico. It was found in a cave on Indian Mountain, southwest of Magdalena, N.M. by Mr. Smith's brother, Garland Smith. The curiously fashioned moccasins are made of inter woven strands of a desert plant, with a tie string to go around the ankle which heId the moccasin on the foot. Archaeologists have estimated the curio at more than a thousand years old. They are in an excellent state of preservation. The moccasins will be placed in the school museum along with numerous other archaeological exhibits from this area.
